As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Tanzy provides supportive psychotherapy utilizing an integrative, holistic approach to treatment drawing upon a variety of evidence-based modalities. Dr. Tanzy works from a strength-based model of therapy and seeks to help midlife and older adults identify and build on capacities they already have, and to set goals together that support healing and growth.
Dr. Tanzy offers a compassionate and caring presence. Attuned to the challenges of growing older, she understands that grief and loss come with the territory of the aging process. She accompanies individuals in their experience of loss and holds a space for the exploration of one’s spirituality.
With a background in clinical neuropsychology, Dr. Tanzy is aware of cognitive issues that may occur with aging. She encourages people in finding healthy ways to compensate for challenges, engaging in new learning, maintaining socialization, and partaking in creative activities in order to enrich brain functioning and enhance their sense of resilience and strength.
Dr. Tanzy’s supportive therapy also includes teaching individuals how to utilize mindfulness and self-compassion in approaching both the challenges and joys of life.
