Creative Film Experience

Karen has collaborated with a local filmmaker since 2013 to bring the acting talents and stories of older adults to the “big screen.” Together they have co-created imaginative, award winning films involving older adults in a retirement community setting. By tapping into the creativity of participants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, the movies promote group idea-sharing and artistic collaboration. Contact Karen about enrolling in the next Creative Moviemaking class.

Karen uses a comfortable and engaging process of legacy filming with elders. She interacts with elders as “storytellers,” and her interviews capture meaningful stories, wisdom, and humor, while exploring hopes and dreams for the future. Karen affirms that there are many “unsung heroes” in our elder population, and her joy comes in giving voice to their experiences.

Would you like to create a legacy film? These short films make a wonderful gift for family and friends. Contact Karen to set up a Legacy Film interview.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you lived at all.”
